Dana Jones, Rick Campbell and Terry Robinson have been playing music together for over 3 decades. Along with Mike McMurray, Dan Kidd and Rich Parlier to round out the band, this group has hits from numerous musical genres to its credit like "I Wanna Be at the Beach", the single that earned CBMA nominations for the Shades in 2006.

With more than three decades of musical experience and hits like "Mr. Beach" to his credit, Paul Craver briings sounds from several genres to the beach music industry. The CBMA Hall of Fame member is a lead vocalist with the Men of Distinction and has recorded three solo album projects that have earned a number of Cammy Award nominations and wins in recent years. Ripete Records' Keep on Shaggin compilation generated "Emperor of My Baby's Heart," the CBMA's 2007 Smoothie of the Year.

A member of the band Kenny Vance and the Planotones, Rissoff has performed rock'n'roll, soul and R&B since age 12 and has worked with several musical icons, notably Darlene Love and Chuck Berry. Rissoff's latest CD, Nu-Soul Explosion released on Angel Music Records, includes his single, "I'm Gonna Forget About You".

Seven musicians comprise the Men of Distinction, known for bringing a wide variety of sounds - from Beach Classics to Soul to R&B and beyond - to whatever stage they play. With two complete CD projects to its credit, the band has been included on several compilation CDs as well. Most recently, the group's edition of "Beez That Way Sometime" is featured on Sun Sand Surf & Suds, the September 2007 release from Ripete Records.

The Mixed Emotions began its career in 1965 and has grown into the nine-piece band it is today. The ensemble includes a five-piece rhythm section as well as a four-piece horn section. Influenced by legends like The Drifters and The Temptations, the group has found a  niche in beach music radio with songs like "I Need A Walk on the Beach" and "Julie Will You Dance With Me."


Oldies, beach music, R&B and soul are the tunes of choice for the West Virginia-based Subway Show Band. Lead vocalist Belinda Owens is joined by Terry Lewis, Gary and Larry Schenck, Herman Seum and Joel Krett for recording efforts that have gained recognition from the CBMA's and a 2001 honorary induction into the Beach Music Hall of Fame.

Well-known for performing classic R&B, soul, Motown and Carolina Beach music, The Coppertones have enjoyed success from original music like "Party Down the Street", "Real Man", and the brand-new "I Grew Up on the Beach". Judy Marshall, Rich Fowler, Lou Salvino, John Ryan, Jim Hensley and Larry Williams comprise the Charleston, SC-based band that came onto the music scene in 2004.

 

Lead vocalist Pam Russell gives Shaggie Maggie its trademark pure-soul sound that can be heard in singles like "Whatsa Matter Baby", which recently topped music charts for a solid month. Russell also has an impressive list of duet singles to her credit, like "We're Gonna Make It", a collaborative effort with Paul Craver.  In Shaggie Maggie, the artist is joined by Ted Keaton, Bob Sykes, Doug Dennis, Roy Brown and James Kipple.

David Blackstock, David Galloway, Wendy Goodson-Back, Dan Kidd, Ron Davis, Rob Cassels,  Paul Cook, Mike Johnson and Larry Pope are The Flashbacks, a group specializing in 50s and 60s classics as well as beach music. The Ripete recording artists have released their fourth CD, Havin A Good Time, which features "Be Serious," written by Clifford Curry. The group is also enjoying the success of its current single, "I Want A Love I Can Call Mine."

From Jordan Lake - just outside of Chapel Hill, NC - Johnny Wilson and the BigTime Party Band deliver beach sounds plus southern soul and blues to audiences everywhere they play...often joined on vocals by Wilson's daughter, Tiff Wheeler. The band's single, "Drink Up," is featured on the Ripete compilation, I Could Dance All Night. BigTime Party Band can also be heard on Wheeler's current "Do Ya' Like".

Tiff Wheeler describes the excitement of recording her first single, "Wade in the Water," as being "like a trip to Disney World."  The song has been released of the CD, Sounds of September, Volume II. The daughter of BigTime Party Band's Johnny Wilson, Tiff has been exposed to music all her life and enjoys being a part of the industry. She now lives in Chapel Hill, NC, where she is marketlng/promotions director for Time Out Sportsbar, She and husband Mike are the parents of two sons, Robert and Andrew. 

The Given family - Chase, Mark, Kerri, Blaine, Taylor and Kyle - brings a new generation of voices to beach music in the group Boys Club & A Babe. The band from Northeastern North Carolina is known along the Grand Strand for covering classics like its spring 2007 release of "Oh What A Night" as well as newer material like the recent G-Force Records release, "Just My Baby and Me." 

"I love great songs of all styles," says Lance Wing, "so that's what I do." His background covers styles from 1950s/60s rock to country to jazz and most everything in between. Recently, his single "To A T" gained notice from the beach music community as a popular dance tune. In the early 1980s, Lance began writing some of his own material and continues to enjoy that avenue of his career.

Well-known throughout the southeastern United States for original recordings as well as other beach music classics, The Fantastic Shakers have six CD's and a string of hits to their credit. The Shakers' most recent release, "Something Old, Something New", continues to climb music charts and gain popularity among the beach music community. The group includes members Jeff Swafford, Freddie Tripp, Chris Jennings, Jim Stoudemire, Bo Schronce and Don Tetreault. 

While beach music has become its signature sound over tbe past 46 years, the Castaways Band delivers a variety of music with its eight-member group. Voted Best New Performers by the CBMA in 2006. the Castaways Band today is known for singles like "Two Steps Forward" as well as complete CD projects like its recent "Generation Six" collection.

The Magnificents Band is based in Burlington, NC, and already has a Cammy Award to its credit. The six-member group is popular for its instrumental and vocal abilities. Following the success of "Wherever I Lay My Hat" earlier this year, the group's current release, "Baby There's Something," is now working its way up radio charts throughout the area.

Inlyn Gruve, known for beach titles like "Hold On Baby" and "Love is a Mystery", is owned by Gruve Records founder Phil Salone. The group is made of of six vocalists/instrumentalists: Salone, Jeff Hall, Jim Brown, Phillip Watson, The Nature Blu, and Luke Moss. 

Singer/songwriter Nicky Harris began his musical career by forming a band in his teen years and has since released a number of solo projects, including Carolina Sands which earned a 2001 Cammy nomination for Album of the Year. The following year, Ripete Records included Harris' original composition, "Loveline," on its compilation CD, Dancin' USA. Two more of the Greenville, NC, resident's penned recordings were included on Surfside Records' 2003 compilation, Beach Music Patrol. Most recently, Harris has topped beach music charts with his single, "A Love Worth Waiting For."

Tony Baker and daughter Erin are joined by Rick Dixon and Henry Jones in The Souls. Henry, Rick and Tony worked together in forming The Carousels in 1968, went their separate ways over the years, then reunited after Tony formed The Souls in 2001. Their single, "She's Yours, She's Mine," is currently a popular tune on area Beach Music charts.

Making her stage debut at age 3, Rhonda McDaniel joined her first band a decade later. Most recently, she has been a popular personality with Brasstyme, and has recorded several solo projects on the KHP Music label. With several CBMA nominations to her credit, she won an award for Blues Song of the Year in 2006 for "You Got What It Takes."

Lia Long, CBMA-nominated disc jockey for WPCM Radio in Burlington, NC, heads up Lia
and the Wave, based in the same city. The band is known for its trademark sound in beach and boogie as well as other musical genres.
Recent single releases include "Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On" and "All the Good Times," both released on compilation projects from KHP Music. 

After more than two decades with the Embers, Craig Woolard started his own band in 2004. Since that time, CWB has become a household name among Carolina Beach Music enthusiasts and continues to turn out hits like the current "Money Honey" on a regular basis. Based in Cary, NC, the six-member group has several CBMA nominations and awards to its credit.

The Cocoloco Party Band formed in 1999 and is comprised of five musicians from across the nation who teamed up to perform together in 
the Myrtle Beach area. Group members combined their talents to deliver a versatile style of several genres of music. The band has obtained a large following throughout the southeastern United States.


Based in North Carolina's Triangle area of Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill, the Fabulous Hotdog Daddy-O's specialize in various genres of music, notably classic beach and Rhythm & Blues. The five-piece horn band is known for several hits, one of its most recent being a cover of "It's You" available on KHP Music's This is It! compilation project.
